George and Margaret Mee immigrated to the United States in 1961 from England. George, a diesel engineer and thought to have much to offer the Company, was invited by his brother-in-law, Robert Mallery, to join his sawmill operation in Hancock, New York. The Company which one year later expanded into Emporium, Pennsylvania was known as Mallery Lumber Corporation. The Company experienced many transitions over the years and in 1976, George Mee succeeded Robert Mallery as President of the Company. With its long-term investments in timberland assets, the Company was strategically positioned as both a timberland management firm and high end sawmill operation resulting in an entity that prospered both in terms of rapid sales growth and profitability. At the time of his death in 1998, George Mee was the Corporation's President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. During Mr. Mee's years with Mallery Lumber Corporation, he and his family were long time residents of the Delaware County, New York and Wayne County, Pennsylvania areas. Five years after Mr. Mee's death, the Mee Family established the George A. and Margaret Mee Charitable Foundation with assets Mr. Mee realized from his investments in the Mallery Lumber Corporation.
